Pricing and Licensing

Open Referent on Software United has two pricing models: “SMB” and “Enterprise”.

Technically products are the same in both cases - only pricing scheme changes. Customer cannot mix “SMB” and “Enterprise” licenses - if customer wants to migrate to another pricing scheme, all the licenses purchased according to the old scheme should be replaced with new licenses purchased according to the new scheme.

“SMB” model can be used only by organizations that have less than 1000 users. “Enterprise” model can be used by any organizations.

“SMB” model details and “SMB” licenses specification

Short facts:

  • Customer pays per physical server and per physical client (desktop or laptop).
  • Server cannot contain more than 2 physical CPUs (we don not count cores - only physical CPUs). If customer has server with more than 2 CPUs and wants to use SMB pricing model it should be discussed on case-by-case basis.
  • Each client system is supposed to be used by only one person. If client system is used by number of persons, it requires one license per person.
  • There is a special offer (see price list) - if customer buys 50 clients he/she gets 1 server for free.

Detailed SMB licenses specification:

  • Open Referent on Desktop United SMB license - allows installing Open Referent on Desktop United software on 1 (one) physical machine (desktop or laptop). This system is supposed to be used by only one person. If the system is used by number of persons, it requires one Open Referent on Desktop United SMB license per person. System cannot contain more than 1 (one) physical CPU and more than 4 (four) Gb of RAM. If customer has client systems that do not feet these limitations it should be discussed on case-by-case basis. Open Referent on Desktop United SMB license entitles customer to use and to get support and software maintenance for all the applications of Red Hat Enterprise Linux Desktop and IBM Lotus Notes with Collaboration.
  • Open Referent on Server United SMB license - allows installing Open Referent on Server United software on 1 (one) physical server. Server cannot contain more than 2 physical CPUs. If customer has server with more than 2 CPUs and wants to use SMB pricing model it should be discussed on case-by-case basis. Open Referent on Server United SMB license entitles customer to use and to get support and software maintenance for all the applications of Red Hat Enterprise Linux, IBM Lotus Domino Enterprise Server and Open Referent.

Example:

Customer has 10 servers (2 CPUs in each server) and 200 desktops (1 CPU, 2 Gb RAM each), 100 desktops are personal (1 user) and 100 desktops are shared (2 users each). Customer wants 1 year of support and maintenance. Customer complies with limitations of SMB model - less than 1000 users and all the hardware meets the requirements - so, customer can choose what pricing model to use. If customer chooses SMB model, he/she needs 10 “Open Referent on Server United SMB, 1 year” licenses and (100*1 + 100*2) = 300 “Open Referent on Desktop United SMB, 1 year”, licenses. Using special offer, customer can get these licenses as: 6 x SUD1SMB50PACK + 4 x SUS1SMB.

“Enterprise” model details and “Enterprise” licenses specification

Short facts:

  • Customer pays per physical server CPU and per physical client (desktop or laptop).
  • Price per CPU depends on CPU type (number of cores).
  • Each client system is supposed to be used by only one person. If client system is used by number of persons, it requires one license per person.

Detailed “Enterprise” licenses specification:

  • Open Referent on Desktop United Enterprise license - allows installing Open Referent on Desktop United software on 1 (one) physical machine (desktop or laptop). This system is supposed to be used by only one person. If the system is used by number of persons, it requires one Open Referent on Desktop United Enterprise license per person. System cannot contain more than 1 (one) physical CPU and more than 4 (four) Gb of RAM. If customer has client systems that do not feet these limitations it should be discussed on case-by-case basis.   • Open Referent on Server United Enterprise 1 CPU license - allows installing Open Referent on Server United software on 1 (one) physical server with 1 (one) CPU with 2 (two) or less cores. If there are many processors in the server, customer should buy appropriate amount of Open Referent on Server United Enterprise 1 CPU licenses. For single or dual-core CPU customer needs 1 license, for quad-core CPU - 2 licenses, for octa-core CPU - 4 licenses. Open Referent on Server United Enterprise license entitles customer to use and to get support and software maintenance for all the applications of Red Hat Enterprise Linux, IBM Lotus Domino Enterprise Server and Open Referent.

Example:

Customer has 5 servers (2 dual-core CPUs in each server), 5 servers (2 quad-core CPUs in each server) and 200 desktops (1 CPU, 2 Gb RAM each), 100 desktops are personal (1 user) and 100 desktops are shared (2 users each). Customer wants 1 year of support and maintenance. If customer uses Enterprise model, he/she needs (5*2*1 + 5*2*2) = 30 “Open Referent on Server United Enterprise, 1 year” licenses and (100*1 + 100*2) = 300 “Open Referent on Desktop United Enterprise, 1 year” licenses. Customer can get these licenses as: 300 x SUD1ENT + 30 x SUS1ENT.
